That is one toe curling anvil every time I look at a picture of it my toes try to hide where the sun don't shine

oooooh, clever! Did you also sneak in some sort of detents or keepers to keep the hinged parts from jiggling open & shut?

This kind of shelf I made for the other Peddinghaus stand and it did not need any detents.

This particular series I was not sure of as they are a little different and at a slightly different angle vs being top, directly over bottom arm. I thought I would leave them for the time being and if there needs to be a detent of sorts i would just put a dab of weld on the bottom pivot piece as the detent.

I'm pretty sure that they should stay where they are put. the hardie holder might be a mover though I'll have to see.

Jenn, I'm so glad to see the shop is progressing. Sounds like you'll be going 100MPH in a couple of weeks. And that anvil is beautiful!!! And the stand is too!! Will this be a "permanent" fixture in the trailer or will it go into the shop?

hello, Thanks, Me too. it will move into the new shop as my main anvil.

the Peddinghaus will be swapped back in and the reason for the stand modifications.

This way I can now put any anvil in the trailer via just a new stand which is a piece of cake to make.

For those that don't know. the base for the anvil which I just call the block (part that sits on the ground). Was made separate from the upper stand section (originally welded together). I cut off the old Peddingaus stand and cleaned up the mounting surface of any weld, drilled 4, 5/8" holes and tapped the holes 3/4x10tpi. I also shortened the Peddinghaus stand so I didn't have to lift the trailer up so high and this will make the trailer faster to level.

This allows for a metal or wooden anvil stand to now be bolted to the block which the distance never changes on the block.

This means now that I can just make the stand with the appropriate mounting holes in a plate on the bottom and just swap anvils and stands into or out of the trailer when wanted.

this gives me the correct anvil height based on anvil tallness (each has a different base to face height) and this also makes it so the stand can be moved into or out of the shop with just the addition of a 2" spacer for me to arrive at the correct anvil height of 31"

Because the trailer goes up and down I can change the overall height or standing distance nearly as many inches as I want.

Since the "Block" is the part that fits in the floor thimble and does not change in height this micro adjustments are limitless.

I like my anvils to sit about 3 or so inches lower than standing knuckle height. I believe I had shown the reason why in another thread.
