My uncle built houses and i worked for him as a kid,i put a million nails in those hurricane clips (whatever you call them).
Standing on a ladder, nail after nail, one in each hole.
When i built my last building 5 years ago i found out they have a nailer that has a pointer on it to go in the hole and then just shoot the nail in.
I bought one just for my job,it made it so much quicker and for about a 100 bucks was the deal of the year,to me!
My buddy drove the lift and i shot the nails,as fast as the lift would go.
I sold the tool after the job was done.

I have used that style for many years and has always worked well. Do you use truss nails or screws on them?

So do I. All of these fell on a metal splice plate sp was a bitch to get a nail to line up with one of the holes. Had to use pliers to hold the nail to drive half of them through the splice plate.

All the trusses are up. The east end wall is 3 1/2" taller than the side walls due to the height required for the 12' x 12' garage door to have 12' to the bottom of the header to the concrete floor. Just put up the end wall truss and marked the wall that had to be cut. See second pic.

I figured out building the wood crib that you don't need holes The "Rancho Deluxe" HF framing nailer will punch a 16P right through that Hurricane clip. Pushed the safety glasses tight to my face and blazed away. No building inspector was ever going to look at it

I knew they would be a pain in the ass, but he says he likes the look of them. Wait till he has to put up 4x8 sheets of OSB on those angled trusses.

Guess it will be better for heating in the winter since all the heat will collect to the center, and a couple of ceiling fans will push it back down?
