Backed the whole truck back now and settled onto the suspension parts, half of it is bolted up, rewelded the rear frame section with all the lights and mudflaps. Got the 26 inches out of the frame and now some reaming to do, yes lovely. Customer has a load for tomorrow, told him to phone Ryder Truck Rental, were two days into this already and another full day tomorrow bolting up and spray some paint here and there.
Hear you guys in the states have it worse than us up here in the cold north. Trucking was affected up here, and I seen it slow down before all the recession problems started. It's a tough go for sure, never have I seen so many guys doing badly that for many years were okay.

Colin! Glad you stopped in!
Someone mentioned a while back that you hadn't been around, I thought I had an email address for ya, but hunting didn't turn anything up. Was down your way a couple times this year, but didn't figure you would easy to track down! "Hey, do you know where to find Big Rig Guy?" LOL Glad to hear you're staying above water, those that make it through this stuff come out even stronger when things pick back up. Seems a lot of people around this area are tired of the 'recession' talk, and are starting to move on with their lives again, so hopefully things start picking up. Hopefully you can stop in a little more often! |

Finished off the deck on my truck late this afternoon, now the hitch is enclosed and looks alot better. Still need to figure up something for the rear and lights etc, maybe short sides.
I can use the back of the truck now for a work table, nice and flat and the right height too. Those tanks on the back will get mounted but I still need to check clearence with the trailer hooked up.

Welcome back Colin, I am glad to see you hanging in there. Things are tough out there but hopefully some more work will shake loose for you. Some work has gone away but there is also some that has just been delayed until times get better. If we can ever get a steady improvement in the economy and people start spending again you will be going like gangbusters. Then you will have the problem of trying to get everything done that was delayed along with your regular work that comes up and they will all want it yesterday. Hang in there and keep posting your jobs if you get time. I enjoy seeing the work you do.

By the way, I will be especially glad to see 2009 gone myself. I took over our family business in 1994 and up until late 2008 we had done fairly well. Since then it has been tough. 2009 has really sucked and it I will be glad to see it go. I just hope in 2010 the economy gets better and our gov't does not screw up our economy and yours any more than it has.
