Sweet looking thing, I envy your talent and skills. Seems a shame to go digging in the horse poop with it.

Train the kids to shoot. All of them. So they will have respect. Reality rides in on that horse. Until they actually aim and pull the trigger, all they know is the BS they see on the TV. And remember that until they have to kill something they will have no respect for life.

Kind of is a shame. But it's designed for the task at hand and works splendid. 14horses on it. Will be another 8 today.

The blade is a new design for me with a hollow running it's length on the inside.

This concept is to ease sharpening.

After 20 sharpenings I think I'll be back into the hollow.. that's when the real test of design will come in.

If too thin I don't think it will stay sharp very long.

It's 61Hrc

Yes it is treated with a thin super glue.

The handle is finished to about 10% of is finished size then coated with the super glue.

Then reduced in size and coated again.

Each reduction and any material removed gets coated.

Because of the grain this crotch wood doesn't dry well without voids and cracking.

The thin super glue penetrates the wood reinforcing and binding any voids.

I should have whittled down the wood from both sides and sent it for stabilisation.

But I am figuring out the process so split each knot section so they are 1 sided vs 2.

So yes. Coated and buffed.

The dark section is epoxy I used to fill a void. Where the wood cracked out during the split. 5min epoxy always takes 2days to setup.

I left the handle oversized as this will be my test before going further.

Thinking I might make some to sell.
