Default ELM327 OBDII scanner

I did a little Ebay shopping, and picked up this neat little scanner. Its an OBDII interface for USB. It came with software, which actually seems to work. I tried out the live display graphing, and it is as accurate as the gauges read, so Im happy so far. (Especially for $20!)

Does anyone have any experience with these on a Duramax? I initially got this to be able to read my diesel codes, since my old scanner will not. It seems it will, but since the truck has no current codes, I cant be sure. Short of pulling a sensor plug to force a code, anyone have any ideas? Any different software available? I have a dedicated Netbook for the scanner software and an online manual for everything manufactured up to 2008...

Maybe I should do a review writeup if no one has seen one in action...
