Craigslist drill press- Montgomery Ward Variable Speed
Was it worth the $80? I need a new chuck for it if anyone has a recommendation or how to get what size of arbor/ect I need. The one I missed was a Craftsman Professional with XY milling table. Looks to have weight 200 pounds easy. $250 with a 10" Craftsman table saw. Missed it by 20 minutes .

Looks like a good deal. I think it is twenty one hundred and not twenty one thousand. Take a photo of the chuck or the quill where it is missing and we can get started, usually the arbor is removable with a drift and then you can determine what size arbor you need. Also add a model number and maybe someone can find something about it.

500 rpm as a minimum speed is awful fast, if your main use is going to be steel, its okay for wood, if you are doing steel, hole saws and larger bits want to turn alot slower. This will burn up bits very fast. The rotating head is a nice feature.

Look at the 2d picture the label states "17 inch Drill Press Router Shaper" and the numbers on the lower half of the speed dial appear to have 5 digits.
Definitely designed for wood working. Even if you don't want to keep it, I'm sure there are wood workers who would love to have a machine like that in their shop. $80 for a floor standing drill press is pretty cheap in my part of the country, especially for a variable speed model. I think you got a great deal. I would think you could sell it for more than you paid by describing it as multi-use wood working machine. |

I think it will end up at my fathers new wood shop. I was looking for something 200-300rpm since I want to be using it for steel and aluminum.

if the unit is belt driven you may be able to change out the pulleys on it to get lower speeds. it may be worth checking out.

Missing speed adjustment knob- think golf ball. They worked on the old man's craftsman for years.
