The next step was to design the overlay. I started with a tracing of the buckle and drew different designs on it until I got something I could live with. I cut that out to use as a template and used contact glue to stick it to the nickel silver sheet.

Then the fun began with the jewelers saw. It didn't take as long as I expected but I broke quite a few blades, and cut myself into a corner more then once, where the saw frame didn't have clearance to go the direction I wanted.

After I cut it out I cleaned it up and prepped it for soldering.
