I've had mine for well over 30 years and no problems. I always reversed the scribe when I carried it around but do leave it "operative" when I put it the tool box drawer.

IF you really consider Carbonic acid an acid I guess there is but it's so weak as to hardly qualify. :-) CO2 dissolved in water. You had better be careful of all that ACID in anything that fizzes....
