I would agree with “out of line of fire”. Maybe you can come up with a adjustable arm that can swing it in to a place convenient to what you are working on.

A strong magnet should hold the gauge....

One idea for that though. Put a couple springs over the threaded rod under the top bar....

Nice haul. I used a copy of that plate grabber for years at my old job. One time I think I tig welded some more grip on it, or ground some other teeth on it, but would love to find one for myself...

Some sort of allergic reaction, I presume. Even though no visible signs. Try some lotion to help get rid of the irritation?

And stop using those gloves.
