If you want an electric start....just slap the welding leads on a 12 or 24 volt battery with the welding rheostat turned right up and it will crank an engine.

Those covers and "factory Mods" that are on it are a Princess Auto thing. The fan shield at the back end was a sheet metal band with a clamping screw, and a screen held in with sheet metal screws....
