Where does the grease enter into the existing setup? Guessing it goes thru the pin and exits centre of both bushings?

Use something heavier /wider than 2x6 to walk on, or at least put a couple straps across them to spread the weight.

That sort of stuff can be done solo, just think and plan accordingly to do it...
