For measuring tools, endmills, reamers and that sort of stuff that machinists use, they work well. For wrenches, hammers, and general tools, the ‘machinists’ boxes suck.

Try a HSS router bit, ideally with no rake angle. You can also try flame polishing the edges after machining it and see if that helps.
