Swapped out the fittings today. I cut a new piece...

Swapped out the fittings today. I cut a new piece of 3/4” pipe for a new suction tube. The old fitting/suction tube setup will likely get reused in another tank.

Lost a little over 1 1/4” in...

Nope, pretty much machined same as mild steel....

Nope, pretty much machined same as mild steel. Even drilling the side hole which would be half original, half weld metal, other than chips breaking a little easier, it cut no issue.

I did hunt for one at the time, with no luck...

I did hunt for one at the time, with no luck locally. This version will gain me another 3/4” or so even over the low profile fitting.

Custom fitting

So as mentioned in my tonneau cover thread, the existing fitting is slightly too high and rubs on the aluminum.

I picked up another 2” NPT hex plug, steel, to start as a base for this.
