I would still recommend reels to roll up and store the cables. It is so much faster to just pull the cable straight out and double back with the cables pulled straight and not dealing with a coiled...

I made a set of reels at old job for welder platform that we would set in the truck as needed. Used 1-1/4” pipe for the center piece, and a piece of 6” pipe for the reel. Welded in 1/4” round pieces...
