Got some electrical switch and outlet work done this morning. Also found iurt he has the wrong style CBs. They are Square D, but do not fit his panel. Another parts swap at Menard's now.

That is what I meant about listening to the engine. No need to have a saw at full rpm when not in the wood. I ain't in that much of a hurry nowadays anyway.

I've never had a kick back. It is somewhat like shifting a stick without using the clutch. Just takes listening to the engine. The 8ten chains do have pretty good reviews.

I am sure a skip tooth chain would not be for me. I only cut wood once every two years or so. Only use it in the machine shop 5-6 times a winter. Got enough wood now for two years.

Stihl Replacement Chain

If you are running single phase 220V, it sounds like your control box is the problem. Usually the start capacitor has failed. If you are running 3 phase I am no help.
