I know on a long gun, the receiver is the part that's technically the 'gun'. What part is it on a pistol like the one in this thread? The frame?

I don't know how durable it'd be if dropped, but that's about as good a solution as any. If you're going to end up filing to make all the parts, might as well file it in place.

Y'all are making this too hard. Cut off the old tail. Tap a hole for a stud in the frame, cut new piece and screw it on there in place. File and finish to fit. Use loctite.
