I have the predecessor to your 45, the 600. For future info/help, from the horses mouth--Jim Colt at http://weldingweb.com/index.php worked for Hypertherm for many years and recently retired. Many bit of inside info and help and advice from him.

There are some hard to find markers, like a felt tip, that reflect UV light and allow you to see what lines you cut, but that comes with practice, too.

I use an Optrel Satellite helmet that allows me to push a button for plasma cutting and back to welding. Anything can happen. I wear clear safety glasses and the helmet. Eyes are hard to replace. People will tell you real men don't need no stinking protection. But, talk to a few who had the impossible accident and would give anything for a second chance, and it will change your mind.

Good luck on your new Hypertherm machine.
