This skinny guy came home with me today. No, I am not a smith but I aspire to pick up some skills someday:D

Its a Peter Wright 1-1-13. By my math that makes it 153#? The face is a little beat up but since I have no clue what I am doing I am sure it will be fine. The stand is pretty funky. Looks to be made of an old dozer sprocket or something. I am sure it will make a lot of noise being metal.

The old adage of $1/lb did not hold true on this purchase. More like .85/lb:devil:

You can add a piece of 1/2" rubber belting under the anvil to help deaden the hammer blows.

It has what looks like a think piece of veg tan in under there now. I was thinking of filling the pipe with foam, a thicker cushion, and a better non sound transferring clamp system

Should make you a fine anvil. You can make a new stand for it after you use it awhile and know a little more about what fits you.
Be warned it is addictive......

one anvil breeds the lust for more, I had 5 in a 1 man shop for awhile.

That anvil should do you fine, rounded edges are better, less chance of chipping them off into shrapnel.

A wooden stand with a healthy bead of silicone under the anvil edges will quite her down a lot.

Looks good on ya, congrats.
85 cents a pound is robbery up here, in that shape it would probably bring 7 to 8 dollars a pound.

That is 1,000% better than my anvil. The middle of the "flat" part of mine is about 1/2" lower than the ends.

When you said you got an anvil, I thought you meant a Harley :p
Sorry Moe :D

Okay, so after my last Faux Pas regarding a "You Suck" award you may be skating on thin ice with me, but here goes! You have pictures. You stole the thing ($2.50 -$3 a pound right now is the going rate). You did not suck yourself.
I think this deserves a You Suck!
