If you ever want to rust something really fast use a mix of 1 part clorax and 1part water. Heat it in an old stainless pan outside on a coleman stove or forge to a low boil. Viola ..rust. And I mean in a hurry.

Very cool Pedee! I like that the pieces aren't so abstract that you can't tell what they are.
You have a plan for a board? |

I will take a plate of steel and clean it with a grinder. That will give the plate the same finish accross the whole board. To give the board a pattern. I will take tape and tape out a pattern. Then I will sand blast the squares that are to rust. Then treat with rust killer.
Writing this I just realized it would be easyer and probably look cooler if I grind the plate, rust the entire plate with hydrogen peroxide, kill the rust with ospho. Then tape the ones to stay black. Then bead blast to finish . Any ideas? |

So this is first treated with hydrogen peroxide to rust, then ospho to turn it black. After today I laid the pieces out and marked the board. Then I masked it off and sand blasted it. |
