The cable and counterweight is simple.

These are constant force springs:

I finally took time to search for the location of Jennifer's pictures of the DoAll weight/cable/chain arrangement for the auto feed on her saw.

Might give you some ideas.

Whatever system you do, you will probably want a catch or lock to hold the table in the open position until you have your stock positioned / clamped. You should be able to come up with something that you flick with your thumb that will allow the table to move into the blade.

Default linear actuators

How much travel do you need?
You can get linear actuators out of curbside tread mills that have about 18 to 20 inches of travel.
They have amount of travel inputs that a micro switch can feed.

Andy,

This sounds like a great little time saver. Is there any way possible we could talk you in to doing a write up on it including the materials used along with the measurements and all the technical info needed to make it. I think this would be a very good item to have saved in our projects area...........thanks.

I decided to go with a weight and pulley system. I still need to work out a latch to hold it back when I am setting up and i need to get back to work on a sturdy bandsaw stand that has a larger table to attach the feeder on. I tested it out on a few pieces of steel and it works great and i can adjust the weights to run slower if i cut aluminum.

I'll make up material list and everything when i get a minute I've been quite busy.

1- pic of my temporary latch made out of welding wire
2- pic of my weight i used 3"x3"x3/8" steel each one weighs roughly a lb each
3 & 4- pic of the rollers i made
5- pic of the almost finish product
