Hey green, you can order Kaowool here, http://www.piehtoolco.com .Amy is great to work with. Seems to me that the kaowool is 24" wide and $12 a foot. Also, I would recommend building an atmospheric burner first then adapting a blower to it. The reason is that if you are running a blown burner like that and you lose your air supply the propane fire will come out of the forge looking for air to burn. With the atmospheric burners it keeps on running, although not perfectly adjusted, but not bad. Also the Reil burners are not much more involved than the Stupid Burner.

I haven't built a gas forge, though I have worked in many of them. I'm a big fan of a side-blast coal/coke forge. However, I'm sure I will build a gas forge soon (probably sooner, now that recently picked up a bigger propane tank). I've heard a lot of great reviews about a simple T-burner design that an Alaskan fellow who goes by Frosty has designed. There is a write up and description here:

http://www.blacksmith.org/drupal/forge_burner

Careful though, don't hurt your eyes. The write up isn't formatted too well. Frosty is a pretty smart and down to earth guy, and I have seen a lot of praise for this burner design.

Default Pics of my forge

Here are some of the pics of my current forge. Not quite done yet, but done enough to show i guess. In it there are pics of my double burner assembly which i made out of brass simply because i cant find black pipe that small. I put some fire brick on the bottom because i will be laying pieces on it. I put a small permanent front door, and then if you look at the bolts holding the front and back parts on, it is so i can have full access if ever needed.

Weldor2005,
Thanks for the pics, what are you doing for flares? How stable are the burners over the operating range?
My burners will run a useful flame from 3 psi to "bury the needle" uh 25psi?
I got a propane bottle cut to shape, now to get the Kaowool.

Ironman, I was hoping to get you apicture of the forge before I left town but I am running short of time, so it will have to wait until I get back.

Iron man,

The flare and the regulator are the only parts that are hindering me from firing this thing up. Both of which since i've been about every where in town to find alternative solutions and could not, have been ordered from zoeller. After i get her fired up i'd be glad to see what kind of range i can get on it for you.
